Concept
For my kids and off course racing.
7.5 meters of Danish design from Copenhagen in the finest
design and quality
from boatbuilder Jørgen Jensen, DayDream is refreshing new and a true family
boat with sparkling new idea, the walk around cockpit.
DayDream is a follow up on
the 6 meter SunRay I build in 2001 and won the
Worlds 2005 and the Europeans 2006, not in terms of classic design and the
strict class rules, but in the beautiful craftsmanship of the finest wood
combined
with a strong epoxy boat, all this has resulted in a very beautiful boat witch
I’m
very proud of, just like the 6 meter, that was out of this world.
I wanted a walk around boat easy
to sail and build, where my kids could play and
take a timeout lying in soft pillows enjoying the smooth movement of the boat
sailing,
the boat should also be fast and have a modern look with the latest design in
sails
using fathead-main and code zero.
I designed the boat with the most simple layout both in hull and rig design and
I
really think it successful and it’s a dream to sail, it has a moderate sail area
and is
very forgiven on the helm, and sailing the boat is no problem for my 7 year old
son August.
It accelerates quickly and is easily manoeuvred, the open cockpit is ideal for
training
or disabled people as the can move around instead of being fixed to one place in
the boat.
A slide system all thought the
boat moves the disable person in a chair, so hoisting
sails and taking the boat to the mooring is possible, without the need for help.
The boat can easily be handle with only the main or the small foresail on a furler.
The open transom gives a
closeness to the sea like no other boat and my daughter
loves to sit there with her feet’s in the water, you can also see how fast the
boat is
sailing by watching the speed of the water.
The two benches and backrest gives the boat a unique look and pleasant sailing.
Halyards are concentrated around the all new designed mast
without runners or
backstay, and it works.
The keel is fixed based on the
idea of going out sailing easily and fast, but can be
removed quickly for transportation.
In light air the boat performs
outstanding with the 19m2 code zero and fathead main,
in strong wind it’s a challenge to sail just like it should be if you want to
win races, and
that the goal for 2009 where I will take the boat to a lot of races around
Denmark
and Sweden.
DayDream is build to high
standard and cost-effective, with 15 mm strip planks of
Abaci with two layer of epoxy clued 450 gr. Diagonal fabric, it’s painted and
varnished
with International paint, the inside is made of the finest mahogany with 10
layers of
2 comp. Varnish and polish stainlessteel.
The boat is very strong and
reliable, all to the best standards and has 4 generations
of boatbuilding build into everything
In the future the boat will also available in glasfiber and have a small cabin.
It’s equipped with the best mast from John Mast and deck gear from Harken
Jørgen
